HEYBRIDGE played the role of party poopers as they soundly beat Bowers & Pitsea on the day they were awarded the title.
Heybridge came close in the second minute, but Toib Adeyemi powered the ball over.
The champions took the lead when Martyn Stokes was allowed a free header in the six-yard box.
Heybridge responded well, with Daniel Walker and Chris Millar testing Andy Wilton.
Stokes came close to doubling the hosts lead before Adeyemi equalised for Swifts, bundling in following a goalmouth scramble.
