DEPARTING boss Alan Lay admitted quitting Hamworthy United had been “the right thing” to do after an “altercation” with a rival fan.
Lay stood down on Monday in the aftermath of an incident at Saturday’s 5-0 Wessex League Premier Division defeat at leaders Alresford Town.
No reason was given in a statement released by the Dorset club but the outgoing manager acknowledged he had “overreacted” to “personal” comments from a member of the crowd when contacted by The NLP.
