South beat Anfi eld fanfare

I WAS delighted to see Matt Badcock’s article about the rebirth of South Liverpool FC (NLP, May 3).
The first game I ever attended was about 1946/47 when my dad took me to see South Liverpool against Northwich Victoria at Holly Park.
I clearly remember that pre-match and half-time entertainment was provided by a brass band marching round the ground. I was then about eight years old and, after that, my dad regularly took me to Anfield, Goodison or Holly Park.
Looking back now, after more than 70 years, I enjoyed going to see South Liverpool every bit as much as seeing Everton or Liverp...
