SOUTHPORT director and manager Liam Watson hopes common sense will prevail and the National League won’t inflict punishments on clubs for failing to fulfil fixtures.
Dulwich Hamlet, Slough Town, Curzon Ashton and Chippenham Town are among those facing sanctions after being charged this week with breaking League Rule 8.39.
It states any club without “just cause” for the non-fulfilment of a fixture shall be liable to expulsion and/or other disciplinary action such as a points deduction, paying for any expenses incurred by the opposition and a fine.
