Woodham is back to lead Staines Town revival

BOSS: Mick Woodham

MICK Woodham has become the latest manager charged with reviving the fortunes at Staines Town.

The former FC and boss has been handed the manager’s job at Wheatsheaf Park, replacing Paul Barnes, who left the club back in early January to steer ‘s campaign.

Woodham brings with him a wealth of experience to the Isthmian South Central Swans having spent eight seasons at hometown club Windsor, where he also served as a player.

In his time at Stag Meadow, Woodham enjoyed both County and League Cup success and two very memorable FA Vase runs to the quarter-finals and fifth round, between 2012 and 2019.

Woodham has also served Bracknell Town and, in recent weeks, , where he had assisted joint bosses Jon Underwood and Neil Baker in a scouting capacity.

He takes over a Staines side, who finally enjoyed a slice of success last season after years of misery both on and off the field.

Under Barnes, the Swans were second in the table with 16 points from eight matches when the season at Steps 3-6 was curtailed.

Swans chairman Kevin Rowell explained that the Middlesex club took the deliberate decision to put off starting the selection process of unveiling a new manager until Covid restrictions were lifted and face-to-face meetings could take place.

Rowell said of Woodham’s arrival: “I am very excited to be working with Mick as we face the challenge of returning to following a long lay-off.

“We had a number of excellent applicants for the post, and Mick greatly impressed us with his solid work ethic and his deep understanding of the game at our level”.
