THREE Bridges have appointed long-serving former midfielder Jamie Crellin as their new manager.
The 29-year-old replaces club chairman Paul Faili, who will step back after two years in the dugout.
Crellin joined Bridges from Hastings United in 2014, and made over 100 appearances in six seasons at Jubilee Field, four of them as captain.
He twice won the supporters’ player of the year award but an ankle injury ended his playing career in 2018 and he subsequently joined current No.2 Keith George on the club’s coaching staff. Now Faili has given his protege a shot at the top job.
“Both Keith and I soon recognised Jamie as a fantastic leader with great coaching ability incredibly early into his move to Bridges,” said Faili.
“In the past six years, he has brought so much to the club as both a player and a coach. Jamie played the game with fantastic honesty, responsibility and integrity and I believe this is exactly how he will also manage.
Crellin added: “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to manage and lead this wonderful club. I fell in love with the club six years ago when I first arrived as a player and I’ve never looked back.”
