CASH-STRAPPED: The 2020-21 season suffered huge disruption before being curtailed

ON the face of it, the Government’s intention was laudable.
“We promise to target help where it’s most needed,” said Nigel Huddleston, the sports minister, in January.
The first award from a Sports Survival Package, devised to support major spectator sports severely impacted by coronavirus restrictions, was for nonleague football.
It set aside up to £10million, a sum to be shared between roughly 850 clubs in England operating at steps 3-6 of the National League System.
