EXPERIENCED defender Joe Martin has set his sights on helping Ebbsfleet United win promotion back to Non- League’s top table.
The 32-year-old steps into Non-League for the first time after a lengthy Football League career, including five years with Gillingham.
And the left-back is still hungry for success after making the switch to the National League South outfit.
“Ebbsfleet appealed to me, it feels like a club on the up,” he told the club website. “I want to help this year, that’s the only aim and it was important to come to a club that’s only going to rise, to get back up to where it should be and who knows after that, even further.”
The son of former West Ham and England defender Alvin Martin, he started out at the Hammers and Tottenham before beginning to make his name at Blackpool.
He made more than 150 EFL appearances with Gillingham and enjoyed promotion to League One along the way. Since then he has played for Millwall, Stevenage and Northampton. His second spell at Stevenage finished at the end of the season and paved the way for Fleet to pounce.
