BROMLEY boss Andy Woodman can’t wait to pit his wits against some high-class managerial rivals when the National League season gets underway.
The Ravens begin at home against National League newboys Grimsby Town, managed by Paul Hurst, on August 21.
There’s a festive double header against the other side relegated from the EFL, Southend, to look forward to. The Shrimpers are managed by former Hull boss Phil Brown.
And rookie Woodman is eager to lock horns with new Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson, who he worked under at Charlton. Bromley visit the Welsh club in late November. “There are some good managers in the National League,” said Woodman, 49.
“People have a wrong perception of it. I was blown away by the quality of the teams we played in the 13 games I was in charge for last season.
“Grimsby have come down into the league and that’s going to be a real benchmark for us.
Southend have an experienced manager in Phil Brown who’s done it at the highest level and it’s always nice to go back to a club you’ve played for (Woodman had a loan spell with Southend in 2000).
“Parky (Phil Parkinson) is a top manager and it will be nice to see him. We are both bad losers!”
