NICKY DEVERDICS is back at Blyth Spartans ten years after first leaving – and the 33-year-old has been impressed with boss Michael Nelson‘s summer business.
Deverdics captained Gateshead last season having spent the recent part of his career in the National League with Dover Athletic, Hartlepool United and Wrexham.
He had one season at Spartans in 2010-11 as they mounted a play-off push and he still holds fond memories.
Deverdics said: “I really enjoyed my previous spell at the club, it was a great year.
“We had a great team – Ste Turnbull, Robbie was still here, Phil Cave, Michael Tait, Hooksy, Brassy – and we pushed for the play-offs. If we can do that now then it’ll be a great season.
“Nelse has done a lot of good business. The players brought back have an affiliation with the club, the other signings that have been made are established at this level.”
Nelson added: “I’ve worked with Nicky before and has played the majority of his career at a higher level.
“He will bring vital experience to our midfield and also excellent quality on the ball.
“He is a very good character and no doubt will fit in very well with the squad.”
