Nicky Deverdics happy to be back at Blyth Spartans

NICKY DEVERDICS is back at ten years after first leaving – and the 33-year-old has been impressed with boss Michael ‘s summer business.

Deverdics captained last season having spent the recent part of his career in the with , and .

He had one season at Spartans in 2010-11 as they mounted a play-off push and he still holds fond memories.

Deverdics said: “I really enjoyed my previous spell at the club, it was a great year.

“We had a great team – Ste Turnbull, Robbie was still here, Phil Cave, Michael Tait, Hooksy, Brassy – and we pushed for the play-offs. If we can do that now then it’ll be a great season.

“Nelse has done a lot of good business. The players brought back have an affiliation with the club, the other signings that have been made are established at this level.”

Nelson added: “I’ve worked with Nicky before and has played the majority of his career at a higher level.

“He will bring vital experience to our midfield and also excellent quality on the ball.

“He is a very good character and no doubt will fit in very well with the squad.”
