HORSHAM spurned a number of presentable chances against struggling East Thurrock, with the outcome in doubt until the closing stages.
Rocks keeper Arthur Janata tipped a third-minute Charlie Harris effort over the bar.
But the visitors’ Oli Spooner put the ball in the net, only to be ruled offside, while a goal-line clearance by Sam Owusu at the other end kept the match goalless.
The deadlock was broken on 32 minutes when Tom Richards drilled the ball home after good work by Harvey Sparks.
