HASTINGS United continued their strong early-season form, but Herne Bay will need to perform a lot better if they are to compete at Step 3.
Hastings started the brighter and went in front on 11 minutes when Kane Penn was left free on the edge of the box and he coolly slotted the ball wide of the diving Jordan Perrin.
Bay showed no urgency in getting forward and Hastings were quite content to sit back and hit on the break as they controlled the game.
