SAM Higgins’ hat-trick – taking his season tally to 24 – helped title chasing Hornchurch secure an emphatic win over lowly Herne Bay.
Ellis Brown opened the scoring for the Urchins on 12 minutes when he latched onto a Tom Wraight lofted through ball before slotting calmly past Bay keeper Jordan Perrin.
Higgins doubled the lead on the half hour and was first to react when he fired home from 12 yards following a corner that was headed clear.
