AVELEY missed the chance to go level on points at the top of the table after they were held at home by bottom club Brightlingsea Regent.
Bradley Russell gave the visitors a shock lead with a stunning 54th-minute effort before Garrett Kelly rescued a point for the Millers with the equaliser seven minutes from time.
Aveley had so many chances in the first half, but were denied by the crossbar three times and Regent keeper Charlie Turner.
Jon Nzengo volleyed just over the bar before Nick Dembele shot just wide of the right hand post.
