STEVE Wilkes has quit as manager of Northwich Victoria after nearly six years in charge.
Wilkes was the first manager to be appointed following the fans’ takeover of the club in September 2017.
He led the Vics to a FA Vase semi final against Chertsey Town and two Mid Cheshire Senior Cup trophies, and this season they ended in the North West Counties Premier Division top five.
Wilkes said: “This has been the hardest decision I have ever made in football, but I don’t feel I can take the club to the next step, which ultimately is promotion.”
