WELLINGBOROUGH Town kicked off the new United Counties season with a 2-1 home Premier South win over Daventry Town on Friday.
Daventry, relegated from the NPL Midlands, went behind when Jessi Obeng gave the Doughboys a 12th-minute lead.
The visitors’ Ryan Bell was red carded seven minutes later, but close-season signing Leon Lobjoit levelled before halftime. Paddy Cichocz grabbed the 67th-minute winner, but later Lobjoit was also sent off.
Yesterday, Godmanchester Rovers won 5-1 at GNG Oadby Town with two goals from Marley Hamilton.
