■ BASHLEY made the flying start to the season they were hoping for, claiming victory over visitors Yate Town thanks to the helping hands of keeper Ross Casey.
With a fragile single-goal lead at half time, Bashley were almost undone in the opening moments of the second half but Casey made a terrific block from George Box. Yate then being awarded a penalty following the subsequent melee, Casey plunging left to keep out Kyle Tooze’s spot-kick.
