■ CONSETT missed the chance to go top as they suffered a first league defeat of the season to a welldrilled Pontefract side who recorded a fifth successive win.
It was a feisty game featuring eight yellow cards, though there were few clear-cut chances at goal.
The first half ended goalless, largely thanks to Consett goalkeeper James Anderson.
Pontefract took the lead in the 51st minute when Connor Smythe’s shot beat Anderson at his near post.
