■ SHILDON missed the chance to cut the gap on leaders Bishop Auckland to one point as they suffered a first league defeat of the season.
The Railwaymen, unbeaten in their opening 16 games, had a day to forget as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at home to fourth-placed West Auckland for whom Josh Scott scored a hat-trick.
Shildon were already trailing to Scott’s 42nd minute volley when they had Jack Vaulks sent off on 73 minutes, Scott then scoring twice in stoppage time.
