■HELSTON ATHLETIC threw down the gauntlet to their Western League title rivals with a 9-1 demolition of Welton Rovers.
Rikki Shepherd fired in the first of his treble with Curtis Damerell, Tom Payne and Jacob Smith making it four by halftime. Shepherd got another two, with Kai Cornish adding a brace and Dave Barker rounding off a rout that was especially welcome with Helston’s three closest chasers all winning as well.
