Cray started well and Gary Lockyer tested keeper Nathan Harvey with a well-struck shot and Tayo Oyebola set-up George Porter, who lifted a shot over the bar.
Lewes came more into the game and almost scored in the 22nd minute when Archie Tamplin rapped the Wands’ right-hand post from 12 yards.
Cray posed a bit more pressure before half-time and from a corner down the left took the lead when Frankie Raymond’s ball to the far post was headed across by Lockyer for Oyebola to score.
