Winning Romford skipper Kris Newby said losing two finals in a week gave the players an extra incentive going into the big one at Wembley, admitting they had been in danger of becoming the Tottenham Hotspur of Non-League.
“We were looking a little ‘Spursy’,” the 36-year-old midfielder quipped. “We had three cup finals in a week and we went and lost the first two.
“But, if anything, that was the incentive to go out today and make sure the season didn’t end on a low. We wanted to win something and at Wembley, the biggest stage of all.
