■ TRAFFORD produced a backs-to-the-wall display to snatch the three points.
The visitors were on top from the start with Sharif Deans striking the bar and it was against the run of play that Trafford took the lead in the 13th minute, Hilal Khan releasing Rio Clegg who advanced to coolly place the ball past Mark Halstead.
The hosts started the second half strongly, but Widnes assumed control once more and Trafford full-back Sean Higgins produced three superb goal-line clearances.
