Saturday’s National League North Star Game sees the league leaders face a tricky trip to fifth placed Chester.
Chester v Scunthorpe United
Chester’s FA Cup exit at Scarborough Athletic last week ended a run of 11 unbeaten in all competitions. Only Brackley Town have won at the Deva Stadium this season as Calum McIntyre’s side boast the best home record in the league.
The Seals will move level on points with Scunny if they’re victorious. They were on this corresponding weekend last year by two goals to nil thanks to goals from Charlie Caton and Elliott Whitehouse. Caton’s netted seven in the league this term, already equalling his season’s best for the Step 2 outfit.
Scunthorpe United had the weekend off following an earlier FA Cup exit. They’ve only won one in six in all competitions but still lead the division by a point. Only Farsley Celtic, who’ve played four more, have a better away record than Andy Butler’s team.
Scarborough Athletic are the only side to have stopped the Iron netting in the league this season. Scunthorpe have opened the scoring in their other nine games.
It’s Retro Day at the Deva Stadium this weekend, with supporters of both teams urged to wear their older replica shirts to the game.
