SUBSTITUTE Michael Fowler scored a late winner to book Stockton Town’s place in the next round at the expense of Newton Aycliffe.
Both teams were competing in the FA Trophy first round for the first time, and both came into the game in fine form after comprehensively winning their midweek league games.
Stockton Town, as they had in recent games, made the perfect start when Josh Scott was found over the top and he showed the skill to put the ball over the goalkeeper Jim Pollard before converting.
