■LONG Eaton United moved into the play-off spots as they defeated Coventry Sphinx with a goal late into the second half.
James Shaw got the winner with 22 minutes left when he cut inside before bending the ball into the top corner despite Charlie Woods getting a hand to it.
Before that, both sides had a decent number of chances to find the net but, were unable to convert them. Long Eaton’s came just before the break when Ryan Campbell-Gordon set up James Taylor. However, the effort went wide of the goal.
