MO Faal netted a sublime first-half hat-trick as Worthing stunned National South rivals Torquay United to progress.
Despite losing on penalties to Gosport in the third round, Worthing were reinstated in the competition after Borough fielding an ineligible player.
Jordan Thomas spurned a glorious early chance for the Gulls when he struck wide from two yards after Will Jenkins-Davies had rounded Chris Haigh.
And his profligacy was punished when Haigh’s long ball sent through Faal who lobbed James Hamon to open the scoring.
