■ BURY took another giant stride towards the title as they beat Barnoldswick 2-0to notch up a ninth successive league win. Josh Gregory’s early goal saw the Shakers edge a scrappy first half before Lewis Byrne made the points safe.
The victory maintained Bury’s nine-point cushion over Lower Breck who swept aside visitors St Helens 5-1.
Harry Hagan’s own goal gave Lower Breck the lead before Elliot Hughes doubled the hosts’ advantage at the break. Jesse Dowling extended Breck’s leader before Sam Burns’ quickfire brace.
