WIMBORNE TOWN have secured manager Matty Holmes for next season, ending speculation over his future.
Holmes has led the Magpies to an impressive ninth place in the Evo-Stik League Southern South & West this season.
Following chairperson Paula Henley’s resignation last month, it was feared Holmes’ future may also be in doubt.
However, he has committed himself to the club and will remain as manager for next season while also continuing his community work for the Dorset outfit.
The former Bournemouth, West Ham and Dorchester Town midfielder has got the club looking up after a difficult couple of seasons and his new deal is a big boost to the Magpies.
A club statement read: “Wimborne Town is delighted to announce Matty Holmes will remain as manager of the club for the 2017-18 season.
“Matty’s role as first-team coach is remunerated on a part-time basis, in line with other managers’ wages operating at this level of football. Matty is also employed by the club to carry out coaching and community projects outside of his management role.
“This additional role is key to the overall success of the club and has contributed significant income during the current season, which is set to further increase next season and beyond. The club is very much on track with its plans and securing Matty again was paramount.”
