Barrow have confirmed that Ian Evatt will be their new manager for the forthcoming National League season.
The former Blackpool center-back took charge of Chesterfield on a caretaker basis for three games last season as the Spireites fell out of the Football League.
Evatt had a distinguished playing career in which he made over 500 appearances, representing the likes of QPR, Northampton and Derby.
Barrow‘s Managing Director Andrew Casson expressed his delight Evatt’s appointment, telling the club’s official website, ”
It was clear to us that he has the drive and determination to win at all costs which he has done at all levels of the game.
He has a fantastic network of footballing contacts from such an impressive playing career which will be important as we build our squad for next season.
Now the appointment has been made I am looking forward to working with both Ian and Paul Ogden to work quickly on recruitment and get everything in place so we can hit the ground running in pre-season.
It was a big decision to make and were confident we have the right man for the job after completing such a thorough search. To that end, I’d like to thank the fans for their patience over the last few weeks.”
