Solihull Moors appoint former England goalkeeper Tim Flowers as manager

Solihull Moors have appointed Tim Flowers as manager and Gary Whild will be his assistant.
The former England goalkeeper joined Moors last November with Mark Yates, who left the club this week to take over at .
The duo kept the club in the despite only having 11 points on the board from 19 games when they joined.
On becoming manager, Flowers said: “The great escape ranks as one of my biggest achievement in and now to have the opportunity to build on everything we achieved last season is the icing on the cake.
“I would like to thank the Board for their confidence both in me and Gary Whild with whom I have an excellent working relationship
“With the pre-season games scheduled in less than three weeks there is much to do and I cannot wait to get started.”
Flowers started his goal keeping career with Wolverhampton Wanderers before seven seasons at Southampton and then six with Blackburn Rovers in a £2.4 million deal which at the time made him the most expensive goal keeper in Britain. He was a key member of the Rovers team that came second in the Premier league in his first season and then won the title in 1994/5.
Flowers was capped 11 times for England and hung up his boots in 2003. Since then he has been the goalkeeping coach at Leicester City, Manchester City, Northampton Town, Nottingham Forest and Fulham where during his tenure the club reached the play-offs.
