National League side Barnet have announced that striker John Akinde has left the club to join Lincoln City.
The striker has netted over 25 goals in three of his last four seasons but struggled in front of the net last season, scoring on just seven occasions as the Bees were relegated back to Non-League.
Akinde began his career with Gravesend & Northfleet before securing a move to Championship club Bristol City in 2008.
Spells with the likes of Wycombe, Crawley and Portsmouth followed before the striker dropped back into Non-League in 2013 with National League North side Alfreton.
During his season with the Reds, Akinde rediscovered his shooting boots, finding the net 18 times.
This form secured the front man a move back to the National League with Barnet in 2014.
Speaking to Lincoln’s official club website, manager Danny Cowley said, “It is never easy to sign a player with this type of goalscoring record and John is unique in also possessing all of the qualities that we were looking for in a centre forward.
“He will also compliment our current triumvirate of Matt Rhead, Matt Green and Bruno Andrade.
“This is a big signing for Lincoln City but also a really important decision for John, so we are delighted that he feels his ambitions can be realised at Sincil Bank.”
