Goalkeeper Alex Bass has signed on a season-long loan for National League South club Torquay United.
The 20-year-old recently penned a new one-year contract at Portsmouth but the League One club has decided to move him out on loan.
Bass marked his league debut on the final day of Pompey’s season with a 2-0 win over Peterborough United.
The Pompey academy graduate has made two more appearances for the Hampshire side in cup ties since then.
Torquay head coach, Gary Owers, told the club’s website: “It’s a great signing. I feel rather fortunate to get him, to be honest.”
“He’s been in and around Portsmouth’s first team squad and he is highly-rated. There was interest from other League clubs to try and sign him. Thankfully, Portsmouth trust us to look after him for the season and I think it could be a massive, massive signing for us.
“It’s not about age, it’s about opportunity. He’s not far away from the first team at Portsmouth and I think he is going to go on and have a very good career and this move is a part of his development. I look forward to seeing him in a Torquay shirt.”
