Wrexham boss Sam Ricketts has emerged as the front runner to land the vacant Shrewsbury Town job.
The League One side sacked manager John Askey this week with Town sitting three points above the relegation zone.
Shrewsbury CEO Brian Caldwell has confirmed that former boss Paul Hurst, who left the club in the summer to become Ipswich Town’s manager although was axed three weeks ago, wouldn’t be returning.
Ricketts, in his first management job, has led the Dragons to the top of the National League and has now become the bookies favourite at 6/4 to land the Shrewsbury job.
