Following the appointment of Graham Barrow yesterday, National League promotion chasers Wrexham have confirmed that Mike Newell will act as his assistant at the Racecourse Ground.
Newell had a distinguished playing career, winning the Premier League title with Blackburn Rovers and making over 500 appearances for the likes of Wigan Athletic, Leicester City, Everton, Blackburn, Birmingham City, Aberdeen and Blackpool.
Since hanging up his boots, the former striker has had plenty of success in the dugout, including winning the League One title with Luton Town in 2005.
Most recently, Newell enjoyed a spell in the Middle East, where he coached three time Saudi Champions Al-Shabab in 2017.
The new managerial team at Wrexham arrive following the departure of former boss Sam Ricketts, who left to take up the vacant post at League One side Shrewsbury Town at the start of the month.
