Doug Loft makes National League move

Dagenham & have looked to bolster their increasing play-off ambitions by bringing in experianced midfielder Doug Loft on loan from Shrewsbury until the end of the season.
This is actually the 32-year-old’s second spell with the Daggers, having played at Victoria Road in 2009, when the East London club were plying their trade in League Two.
The midfielder started his career at before signing with Brighton & Hove Albion in 2006. He went on to make 42 appearances for the Seagulls, and in that time was loaned out to the Daggers in February.
At the end of the 2008-09 season, Loft joined Port Vale, where he would spend the next five years, making just under 200 appearances for the Vale, scoring 19 goals in the process.
Loft left Vale Park in 2014 to sign for Gillingham, where he was appointed captain and played in over 70 matches in all competitions. He then went onto join Colchester United two years later, but injuries restricted the 32-year-old to just 22 appearances for U’s.
He joined his current club, Shrewsbury Town in July 2018, after impressing during his trial with the Club.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Daggers boss Peter Taylor said, “Im really pleased to have signed Doug Loft on loan until the end of the season, he is a very experienced midfield player that I felt we needed and I’m really pleased to have him on board”.
Loft is expected to go straight into Dagenham’s side for their game against this weekend.
