Ian Evatt signs new three-year deal with Barrow

Ian Evatt says he is over the moon to have signed a new three-year deal with .
The Bluebirds boss has secured a top half finish in the in his first season in charge.
The ownership at the club changed mid-season, but Barrow have been able to improve on last year where they avoided relegation on the final day of the season.
Evatt was appointed in the summer and has produced an attractive side, which has been recognised by chairman Paul Hornby.
“I’m delighted to get Ian secured on a longer term deal,” he said. “There was never any doubt in Ian’s commitment to and the new agreement gives comfort to both parties and rewards Ian after a season with so many positives.
“The professionalism at the club and the way we play have taken huge steps forward and we are now a club players are keen to join. I’m sure it also demonstrates to our supporters the direction we want to take the club in, as we move forward into what I’m sure will be an exciting future.”
Evatt added: “I’m over the moon to have finally got the new contract signed. There was never any doubt in my mind that it would get done, and it is a sign of how professionally the new board are doing things, that they took the time to get it right.
“I’m really proud and happy to be manager of this football club and I think we’ve got a team that are really proud to represent the town of Barrow. That’s what every supporter said to me when I took the job, that they just want to be proud and re-engage with the team again and I think we’re showing, with things like having local owners, that we are re-engaging again.
“We’ve now got to start to look ahead to next season and make sure that we don’t settle with being mid-table and average, we want to be at the top of this league and there is no reason why we can’t.”
