Hartlepool United have bagged a major coup ahead of the new National League season by announcing that Nicky Featherstone has extended his stay at The Super 6 Stadium.
The midfield has now played 210 times for Pools since arriving in October 2014 and he was once again among the top appearance-makers last season, featuring in all but three games in all competitions.
A former Hull City youngster who has also starred for Hereford United and Walsall, Featherstone showed his commitment to Pools last term when he took a pay cut to stay at the club.
He went on to make 48 appearances, becoming only the 50th player to hit the impressive 200 landmark in a Pools shirt and the first since stalwart Neil Austin in 2014/15.
Featherstone twice won the club’s Goal of the Month award during 2018/19, before rounding-off his best-ever goalscoring season by nabbing his fourth of the campaign in the final day win over Salford City.
His sublime chipped effort in last August’s home win over Maidenhead United was also voted by supporters as the club’s Goal of the Season for 2018/19.
The 30-year-old prospered under the guidance of Craig Hignett during his first spell as Pools boss and he will be looking to do the same in the new campaign after finalising the details of his fresh deal.
