A CONTROVERSIAL opener from Adrian Clifton helped Maidenhead United to a deserved three points at York Road.
Clifton hooked the Magpies in front from a long throw-in the 44th minute but Wood keeper Grant Smith was certain he’d prevented the ball from crossing the line.
Fortunately for the Magpies, referee Neil Hair and his assistant were in agreement that a goal had been scored.
It gave the hosts a crucial lift going into the break, but was no less than they deserved after a dominant first half display.
