IT was a record-breaking afternoon on Tyneside as a scintillating Gateshead recorded their biggest ever National League win with a thumping display against sorry Maidenhead.
A stunning 7-2 victory at Wrexham in 2011 was their previous best and they put seven past a hapless Maidenhead at the International Stadium, just days after their FA Trophy reply win against Leyton Orient.
The Magpies’ reply was the meat in the sandwich between two Heed first half goals – three goals inside six minutes a scene-setter.
