WITH one eye on their midweek FA Cup replay at Slough, Sutton United manager Paul Doswell made six changes for their long trip to Tyneside.
It was a risky strategy for a play-off six-pointer against Gateshead at the International Stadium but one that just about paid off.
While the Londoners hardly threatened in the opening 45 minutes, after a bright start they were comfortably the better side after the break.
They had the chances to take all three points, but this was a day when both defences performed admirably to keep clean sheets.
