KEVIN Maher celebrated his first year in charge of Southend United by guiding them to a comfortable victory over Scunthorpe at Roots Hall.
Wes Fonguck fired the Shrimpers in front in the first half before a brace from Jake Hyde sealed the win.
And Maher was full of praise for the performance which moved Southend up to ninth in the National League table.
“It’s as good as an afternoon could’ve gone for us really,” said the 46-year-old.
