JACK Lambert once walked away from football. Bored and disillusioned after a series of failed moves, he turned his hand to joinery instead.
“I jacked it in for pretty much two years,” explains the 24-year-old midfielder, who this week joined Kidderminster Harriers after two prolific seasons at Darlington.
“I’d been at Middlesbrough, and they actually offered me a year’s extension at 18. But my agent at the time said ‘You’re getting to the point where you need games – if you sign for a year and nothing happens, you’ll be worse off than before’.
