Southend United have signed Joe Gubbins and Josh Walker.
The Shrimpers had been placed under a transfer embargo in May due to a winding up petition, however the dismissal of that petition has allowed the National League side to recruit.
Centre-back Gubbins has re-signed from QPR. The 22-year-old made 10 appearances for Southend in 2022 and spent last term on loan at Accrington Stanley.
Walker is a former Tottenham and Fulham youth. He’s since represented Wealdstone, Hendon, Barnet and Dagenham & Redbridge.
The striker spent the second half of last season on loan at Gillingham from Burton Albion.
He and Gubbins have both signed two-year deals for Kevin Maher’s side.
Maher told the club’s official website:
“We’ve been short of players for a while and it’s been frustrating watching everyone else bring players in.
“We’ve had to be patient, but we’re delighted with what we’ve been able to do and we’re grateful to everyone at the Club for allowing us to do this.”
