FC HALIFAX Town boss Chris Millington believes The Shay’s gruesome pitch cost his side a tilt at promotion last term.
A combination of heavy rain, poor drainage and dual use as a rugby venue had reduced the surface to a farmyard by the end of March.
Several home games were moved to neighbouring Accrington, and successive postponements left the Shaymen facing a gruelling fixture backlog.
