Aldershot Town have signed Luke Jenkins from Chelmsford City on a two-year deal.
The 21-year-old made the Vanarama National League South Team of the Season for 2023/24. Having joined from AFC Wimbledon a year ago, the centre-back excelled for the Clarets, who finished 2nd last season.
His form attracted a few EFL sides but Aldershot have gained his signature, much to the delight of manager Tommy Widdrington.
The Shots boss told their official website:
“As with lots of our recruitment, we have tracked Luke for some time and every time we checked on his progress we were impressed as he played a major part in Chelmsford City reaching the play-offs last season.”
“His data, but more importantly, those of us who saw him play, felt he was a standout performer at National League South level.
“I feel the pathways we’ve shown are available when playing here at Aldershot Town are a major factor in players like Luke choosing to join the Red and Blue Army!”
Jenkins also earned his first England C cap this summer, representing the Three Lions against Wales C last month.
