Former Premier League defender Adrian Mariappa has signed for National League Wealdstone.
The 37-year-old has arrived from League Two Salford City, who he’d joined from Burton Albion in March 2023.
Mariappa started his career at Watford, progressing through the academy before making his debut in 2005. He eventually recorded 340 appearances in all competitions across two spells.
The centre-back featured for the Hornets in the Premier League, also representing Reading and Crystal Palace in England’s top flight.
Alongside this he’s picked up 64 caps for Jamaica, first appearing for them in 2012 and regularly as captain.
Wealdstone manager Matt Taylor told the club’s official website:
“Adrian has a fantastic pedigree and for us to secure his signature is a huge bonus for the football club.
“He will be a big character within the squad and his leadership skills will be vital for the upcoming season.”
He’s the second former Premier League player to sign for the Stones in two days.
Ex-Brighton winger Todd Miller has been brought in from Bromley after a season with the promoted Ravens.
