Chester have made a big statement in the National League North promotion race by forking out an undisclosed club-record transfer fee for Tamworth striker Akwasi Asante.
The 26-year-old has made his mark at the Blues during a recent loan spell in which he scored five goals in three games and has now joined permanently on an 18-month contract.
The transfer, a new record for the reformed club, was made possible thanks to the financial support of businessman Stuart Murphy, who donated £1million to the club to develop its infrastructure.
Asante impressed during the 2015-16 season with 17 goals in 39 appearances as Solihull Moors won the National League North title.
He continued his scoring feat following promotion with 11 goals in 22 National League games; before he was signed by League Two Club Grimsby for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old then joined Tamworth on an 18-month deal in February 2018 following his release from the Mariners that same month.
Chester head to FC United of Manchester on Saturday.
