National League North basement dwellers Nuneaton Borough have dipped into the transfer market in an effort to rejuvenate their season.
The Boro have completed the signing of former Northern Ireland Youth international Rhys Sharpe, following his departure from Tamworth.
Sharpe came through the academy structure at Derby County and enjoyed a loan spell with Shrewsbury Town, where he made his professional debut in 2015.
After periods with Notts County and Swindon Town, the defender moved into Non-League with Matlock Town before briefly plying his trade in the Northern Irish Premier League.
Nuneaton’s new signing told the club’s official website, “I’m thankful for the opportunityand I’m looking forward to the challenge of trying to help change clubs fortunes from now until the end of the season.”
“We’ve been tracking Rhys for a couple weeks and were trying to bring him in a lot earlier but we’ve had to wait, so I’m over the moon to finally get his signature for the Boro'” said Ginnelly “Myself and Dale (Belford) firmly believe this lad should be playing in the football league and hopefully we can help get him back there where he belongs. I’m confident he’ll be a huge hit with the Boro’ faithful.”
