LIVEWIREDayle Grubb led with two goals as Weston-super-Mare twice came from behind to win a seven-goal thriller.
Sam Higgins shot East Thurrock into the with just five minutes played with a wellworked free kick but Grubb responded eight minutes later with his own well-placed shot from the edge of the box that beat Rocks debutant goalkeeper, 19-year-old Harry Wright, son of Ipswich Town legend Richard.
The second half started in the same vein as the first with Rocks on the attack and Higgins volleyed home superbly on 51 minutes.
